It is a locality in the department of Paraguarí. It is 124 km from Asunción, to which it is connected by a combination of fully paved roads, and from where there are direct buses every day.

It has supermarkets, hotels and places to eat.

This town is an excellent place to stay and to visit the nearby tourist attractions:
- Ybycuí National Park is 24 km away. It is reached by a fully paved road, which is accessed by taking the main road that passes through the middle of the town of Ybycuí in a southerly direction. It is an organised protected area, has park rangers and camping facilities. There is a museum and several trails with waterfalls to visit.
- Another attraction to visit is the Cristal waterfall. To get there, first you drive 45 km on asphalt to the village of La Colmena, and then continue for about 6 km on a dirt road until you come to a country road on the right. Follow the signposts (there are several bends and forks) and after 15 km the vehicle road ends. There begins a footpath of about 700 metres, with ascents and descents (for people in good physical condition), which leads to the waterfall. When I was there, access was free and there was no one there.
