There are different tickets that need to be purchased to enter the various tourist sites located in the department of Cusco.

Each ticket is assigned to a person, and only that person can use it to visit the attractions. Each type of ticket has a validity, which depending on which one it is, can be for a defined day or for a period of time. The price may be different depending on whether the tourist is Peruvian or foreign, and may be cheaper if he/she is a student or schoolchild.

IMPORTANT: The following information about the different tickets should be taken only to have an idea, as conditions may change over time. For more exact and up-to-date information, it is recommended to visit the official websites.

The main tourist tickets are the following:

1. Boleto turístico de Cusco (BTC, Cusco Tourist Ticket): serves to visit some sites within the city of Cusco, others in the outskirts and others in nearby valleys. You can buy it in the historic centre, or in the same attractions included in the ticket (confirm if you can buy it in all the museums of the city). There is a full ticket and 3 partial tickets, depending on the sites included:
- Partial Circuit I: is valid to enter Puka Pukara, Qenqo, Sacsayhuamán and Tambomachay.
- Partial Circuit II: is for the museums of Arte Contemporáneo (Contemporary Art), Arte Popular (Popular Art) and Histórico Regional (Regional History), for Coricancha and the archaeological parks of Piquillacta and Tipón.
- Partial Circuit III: for the Sacred Valley destinations of Chinchero, Moray, Ollantaytambo and Pisac.
- Integral: includes all the attractions of circuits I, II and III.

2. Boleto del circuito religioso (Religious circuit ticket): it is for the city of Cusco, to enter the Cathedral, the church of San Blas, the temple of San Cristóbal and the Archbishop's palace. It can be bought in the same place you visit.

3. Boleto turístico para Machu Picchu (Tourist ticket for Machu Picchu): it is necessary to enter the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. It can be purchased online from the official website of the Ministerio de Cultura (Ministry of Culture), and it is advisable to buy it well in advance because there is a limited number of tickets per day. The ticket has a defined entrance timetable, with the afternoon being the quietest time because there are fewer visitors to the ruins.

4. Boletos para montaña Machu Picchu y montaña Huayna Picchu (Tickets for Machu Picchu Mountain and Huayna Picchu Mountain): if within the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu you wish to hike to Machu Picchu Mountain or Huayna Picchu Mountain, you must purchase a separate ticket (there is one for each mountain). The ticket has a definite entrance time. It is advisable to buy them online well in advance, as there are a limited number available per day, especially for Huayna Picchu, which is usually in high demand.
