Information
This is a trek to do on the Isla del Sol, where you walk from one end of the island to the other. It is of medium difficulty and takes about 5 hours to complete.
On the way you can see the landscape and part of the ruins, with spectacular views of Lake Titicaca at times. Please note that at some points you have to pay a ticket to the local communities in order to be able to continue on the trail. At both the southern and northern end there are areas of ruins to visit and ports to go to or come from Copacabana.
The time I was there, I reached the island from the southern end, first toured and spent the night in that area, and the next day I did this trekking in a south-north direction to finally take the boat back to Copacabana from the north of the island. You can also do the reverse: arrive from the north, walk and spend the night there, do the trail in a north-south direction and return from the southern port. My recommendation is to find out the exact times and places where the boats come and go from each end of the island.
