Information

There are many tourist attractions on Martín García Island that can be reached on foot:
- When you get off the boat and leave the harbour, you can see cannons overlooking the shore, which gives us a sample of a past with military bases and combats.
- Leaving the pier, immediately to the right there is a short trail that leads to some lagunas (inland lakes), where you can observe a large number of birds and in hot weather it is common to see turtles in plain sight. You can follow the path through a gallery forest with descents to beaches, which are not suitable for bathing.
- If you go straight out of the harbour, after 150 metres you will find the civic centre. On the next corner, on the cross street is a theatre, and opposite is a museum with photographs and historical documents. Continuing along the main street you pass the back of the old prison, and further on you can see a lighthouse on the left. If you go about 1 km in total you will come to an airfield.
- From where the island's inn is located, there is a long trail that allows you to get to know the nature of the place. You pass the monuments to the Dos Banderas (Two Flags) and the Héroes Comunes (Common Heroes).

With respect to the ruins of the old prison just mentioned, nowadays you can see the remains of a jail where some of Argentina's renowned politicians such as Hipólito Yrigoyen, Marcelo T. de Alvear, Juan Domingo Perón and Arturo Frondizi were imprisoned.
