It is a city in the department of Itapúa, located on the Paraná River, 36 km from Encarnación. It has shops, places to eat and lodging.
It has a peninsula that overhangs the river, which can be visited by means of the Costanera Avenue that surrounds it completely. Some sectors have a path for walking. These beaches are large and very crowded, especially on weekends during the hot season.

Carmen del Paraná can be reached from Encarnación by car through the asphalted Route 1, or by buses that come and go every day.
