Information
It is a protected natural area of Mendoza that includes a large cavern of limestone rocks.
To get there by car from Malargüe, you first drive 64 km south on the paved National Route 40. Then you take a secondary road on the right for about 8 km, which leads to the car park and the caverns.
Before going to the caverns, you should contact or go to the tourist information office in Malargüe to make a reservation. To enter you have to pay a ticket and the visit is accompanied by a guide. Take into account that there are age restrictions to do different sections or the whole tour, for example for children under 4 and 7 years old.
In the galleries you can see striking and large formations, with a lot of stalagmites (from the floor) and stalactites (from the ceiling) that have grown over thousands of years.
Outside the caverns, there is an open-air trail called Rapü Wayun, which is about 300 metres long and takes about 30 minutes to walk along.
