Castillos de Pincheira Nature Reserve

Information

This is a protected natural area in Mendoza, where there are geological formations that look like big castles, naturally originated by the erosion of the rocks.

To get there from Malargüe, take the Fortín Malargüe Oeste Avenue, which turns into a road when leaving the town. It is 23 kilometres along this road to the place.

You arrive at a camping site with services such as a grocery, toilets, camping (in summer), a picnic area and a small laguna (like a lake) with ducks.

From the vicinity of the camping site there is a pedestrian path that crosses the Malargüe River through a suspension bridge, and after about 500 metres you will arrive at the Castillos de Pincheira. The name given to these formations is due to groups of bandits led by some brothers with the surname of Pincheira, who took refuge in this place at the beginning of the 19th century.
