Los Reyunos Dam

Los Reyunos Dam is a reservoir located in the southern part of the Argentine province of Mendoza, relatively close or better said within easy reach of the city of San Rafael. It was built on the Diamante River, a watercourse that travels a long way from the Andean region.

This spot is very popular among tourists who come to see the dam and its reservoir. Without a doubt, it's a major attraction thanks to the stunning landscape created by the combination of the body of water and the surrounding mountains. The dam wall area is spacious and accessible, and features a ceramic mural that's perfect for those looking to take a souvenir photo.

Around the area there are campgrounds and various facilities for spending the day or staying longer to enjoy it more. Water sports are practiced on the lake, catamaran or boat rides are offered, and there are also activities like zip-lining for those seeking a bit more adrenaline. It's worth noting that all these services require payment.

To get to Los Reyunos from San Rafael, you take Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue which then becomes Route 143, and drive for 12 km. Upon reaching a roundabout, you continue west along Route 150 for 11 km passing through the town of 25 de Mayo. From there a road leads directly to the dam after 7 km, where there is space to park.

If you don't have your own vehicle, excursions are offered in San Rafael that allow you to visit the site. There are many different options: some include kayak rides, while others combine the visit to the dam with tours of other attractions in the area. You can also check with the San Rafael tourism office to see if there are buses running to the dam during high season, what times they operate and exactly where they stop.
