Information

The Galileo Vitali dam is located near the city of San Rafael, in the province of Mendoza, in western Argentina. It is situated on the Diamante River, a watercourse that follows an extensive path from its source at the Laguna del Diamante, located in the mountainous region.

It is a small-sized dam, but it offers a pleasant view of its reservoir and the surrounding natural environment. It is one of the dams that can be visited in the region, ideal to include in a broader itinerary that also features the Los Reyunos dam, another attraction located on the same river.

To get there from San Rafael, one must take Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue, which becomes National Route 143. After traveling approximately 12 kilometers, a roundabout is reached, from which Provincial Route 150 continues westward for about 9 kilometers. At the end of the crossing through the town of 25 de Mayo, there is a paved road that turns to the left; after traveling 1 kilometer along this detour, the dam is reached directly.
