To get to the archaeological zone you have to take a long access road that leaves from Route 186 at 2 km from Conhuás. At the beginning of this road there is an entrance that opens at 6 in the morning (confirm time) and you have to pay an entrance fee. From this entrance to the ruins there are 61 kilometres of asphalted road, but when I drove along it there were potholes in some sections. You should not drive fast due to the state of the pavement and because wildlife crossings are frequent.

There is plenty to see along the way:
- At kilometre 20 there is a museum. At this point you also have to pay a second entrance fee to continue.
- At km 16 there is the Águila Elegante trail for bird watching.
- At km 27 there is a trail of about 50 metres to see the Morelet's Crocodile (Crocodylus Moreletii).
- At km 38 there is a resting place of Yucatán black howler monkey (Alouatta pigra), so make a stop to see if they are in the trees.
- At km 61 is the entrance to the ruins area, where you pay a third ticket.
