Information
It is a locality situated on the Pacific coast, within the province of Puntarenas. It has restaurants, accommodation, petrol station, ATM, bicycle rental and a wide variety of businesses. The Pastor Díaz Avenue is its main commercial thoroughfare, which runs parallel to the coast at about 250 metres. It is usually frequented by both national and foreign tourists.
It has a long beach of about 3.5 km in length, which is pebbly and dark sandy. It should be taken into account that the sea here is rough and more suitable for surfing, and for this reason there are schools and stalls everywhere selling or renting boards to practice this activity. On the other hand, for those interested in bird watching, this coastal area is good for spotting aquatic species, especially the colourful scarlet macaw (Ara macao).
Further away, a recommended place to visit is the Carara National Park, the entrance to which is about 22 km from the town and is ideal for getting in touch with nature.
