Information

It is a locality in the north of the province of Neuquén. It has a tourist information office, a petrol station, an ATM, grocery shops and restaurants. There is a provincial inn and a municipal camping site.

You can get there from Chos Malal by travelling 96 kilometres along Provincial Route 43, which is currently totally asphalted in this section.

At the entrance of the town there is a picturesque welcome monument with a gaucho (like a South American cowboy) and a flock of sheep. A 6.5 km drive along Route 43 towards Varvarco takes you to the Mirador de la Puntilla (a viewpoint), located at 1450 metres above sea level, which has a footpath and a walkway with balconies offering an excellent panoramic view of the region.

This locality is an excellent starting point to visit the protected natural areas of Epu Lauquen and Domuyo:
- To go to the Lagunas de Epu Lauquen (like lakes) from Las Ovejas, you drive 3.5 km along the asphalted section of Route 43 in the direction of Andacollo. At this point a 33 km gravel road leads to the entrance of the protected area.
- To get to Domuyo, you first drive 21 km of gravel road along Provincial Route 43 to the town of Varvarco, from where you continue along Route 43 for another 21.5 km of gravel road to the beginning of the natural area.
