Information

The Epu Lauquen Natural Protected Area offers hiking possibilities to appreciate its landscapes and autochthonous fauna.

It offers the Los Robles and Cascada Chaquiras trails, which are actually two trails in one, because Los Robles is the first part of the trail that continues to the waterfall:
- It is of medium difficulty and takes about 4 to 5 hours round trip.
- It starts at the end of the main vehicular road in the protected area, where there is a sign indicating the access to the trail.
- At first the trail runs parallel to Laguna Superior. Shortly after, you start to walk through a forest, where it is common to see a bird called the chestnut-throated huet-huet (Pteroptochos castaneus), which is the only place in Argentina where it has been recorded. You cross a stream, and then climb up and over a mountain. Finally you reach the Chaquiras stream and its waterfall.
