Anillaco

Information

It is a village located in the province of La Rioja. It is situated in what is known as the Costa Riojana, an area of valleys crossed by National Route 75, at the foot of the eastern slopes of the Sierra de Velasco. It became especially well known during the 1990s because Carlos Saúl Menem was born there. He was president of Argentina for 10 years, and also governor of the province on two occasions totaling 8 years.

It has some services for visitors, such as accommodation, grocery stores, a petrol station and an ATM.

The village has some attractions of its own that visitors can explore on a walk around the area, taking advantage of the quiet atmosphere that characterizes it. There is a camping area with concrete tables and benches, electricity, barbecue grills and restrooms. On Coronel Barrios Avenue, past the Virgencita roundabout, there is a clock. This is where the so-called Paseo de los Estanques begins, with a water reservoir that at certain times of the year may be full of water or dry. There is also a bridge or walkway with a viewpoint in the middle, from where the area can be observed.

Its access is along paved National Route 75, about 31 km from Aimogasta and 90 km from the city of La Rioja.
