Empedrado

Information

It is a town in the northwestern part of Corrientes Province, located about 55 km from the provincial capital. It lies on the banks of the Paraná River, in an area with large cliffs made up of layers of ancient sediment that were left exposed and shaped by the erosion caused by the Paraná River and rainfall over a very long period of time.

It has a tourist information office, an ATM, grocery stores, a campground and different accommodation options. The commercial area is located along Bartolomé Mitre Avenue, between 25 de Mayo and José de San Martín squares.

The best way to access the riverfront is through its municipal campground, which has all the basic services for visitors. It has access to the river, where there is first a sandy area and also a kind of balcony or paved platform with good panoramic views of the area. From there, you can walk down to a long beach, which has tall cliffs in different colors and geological formations that can be explored.

To get to Empedrado by public transportation, there are buses arriving from Corrientes, Goya, Bella Vista and Esquina, and even from places outside the province such as Resistencia, Formosa, La Paz (Entre Ríos), La Plata and the city of Buenos Aires. If traveling by car, the town is located along National Route 12, which connects it with Corrientes to the north and with Goya and different parts of Entre Ríos to the south.
