It is a laguna (a type of inland lake) in the province of Buenos Aires, located next to the town of Las Flores, 172 km from the city of Buenos Aires. It covers an area of about 60 hectares.It is located within the Parque Plaza Montero (a park), in an environment of green spaces and with groves of trees in some areas. It has a large camping site with electricity, toilets, showers, tables with benches, barbecues and camping areas.
The body of water is completely surrounded by an asphalted road. There are sectors where there are seats and cement tables, and pedestrian paths to be close to the shore. For those interested in wildlife watching, it is common to see capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris, the largest rodent in the world) and birds of the aquatic environment such as black-necked swans, coots, herons, ducks, etc.
In the neighbouring locality of Las Flores you can find shops, petro station and lodging. From its main square (Plaza Mitre) it is 2 km to the laguna. To get there from other places, the main road is National Route 3, which connects it with Azul, the city of Buenos Aires and San Miguel del Monte, for example.
