Chaihuín

Information

It is a tourist town in the Los Ríos region of Chile. It is 24 km from the town of Corral. It has services for visitors such as cabins, picnic sites, grocery shops and a tourist information office.

It is located on the Chaihuín River, where it flows into a bay of the Pacific Ocean. From there you can see a great landscape with river beaches, sea beaches and huge dunes separating them. In fact, at the exact point of the mouth of the river, you can stop and observe dunes, river and sea at the same time.

For those who are interested in bird watching, this area is a wetland where different species can be seen with a good number of individuals.

In the vicinity of Chaihuín there is more to see:
- From the side of the bridge that crosses the Chaihuín River, where the tourist office is located, there is a gravel road that leads to the Chaihuín section of the Alerce Costero National Park. There are lookouts and trails.
- If you cross the river over the bridge from the village and follow the main asphalted road southwest, after about 7 km you will come to a dirt road of about 800 metres that leads to a private nature reserve with a trail and viewpoints to observe a colony of sea lions.

Chaihuín can be reached from Corral by car on the paved road T-450. There are also buses from Corral.
