Corral

Information

It is a town in the Los Ríos region of Chile, located on the shores of the bay of Corral in the Pacific Ocean just where the Valdivia River flows into the sea. It is located in front of the Mancera Island and also in front of the town of Niebla.

It receives tourists who come to visit the town and other coastal attractions. It has lodgings, places to eat, grocery shops, public toilets and a tourist information office.

It is a must to visit the Castle of San Sebastián de la Cruz, whose construction began in the 17th century and belongs to the system of forts of Valdivia that the Spaniards built as protection mainly against pirates. It is very close to the pier where the passenger boats arrive, so you can walk along the waterfront. You can visit it from the inside, where you have a panoramic view of the historical site with its cannons and the bay in the background. And you can also see it from the outside, as there is a walk along the coast where there is a small beach next to the castle walls.

Visitors to Corral also have the opportunity to visit other places nearby. There are for example the beaches of Chaihuín and the fortifications of Amargos and San Carlos.

To get to Corral:
- By boat: from Niebla there are boats leaving from two terminals: one for passengers only and the other for ferries transporting vehicles.
- By car: the Route T-450 allows you to connect with the towns of Amargos, San Carlos and Chaihuín by asphalt.
- Bus: there is public transport from Amargos, San Carlos and Chaihuín.
