Information

It is an area and beach complex in Mar del Plata, along the coast of the Argentine Sea. It is about 8 km from the city center, south of the port and right where the Puerto de Mar del Plata Nature Reserve ends.

It is a large area, stretching for about 2 km. It is characterized by a long sandy beach and ponds, separated from each other by a developed area with services, large parking lots and a paved road. The areas around the ponds have large green spaces with bridges, benches and playgrounds. It is common to see a large number of birds such as coots, gulls and ducks. Several species can also be found among the reeds and vegetation that grows in different areas.

As is the case throughout Mar del Plata, Punta Mogotes looks very different depending on the time of year. The quietness that can be seen during the low season contrasts with the large number of people who come during the hottest months, especially in January and February.

Punta Mogotes can be reached from downtown Mar del Plata by bus line 581, which runs along the coast. There are also other lines that take different routes and allow visitors to reach the area, such as lines 511, 522 and 523.
