Mburucuyá

Information

It is a town in the north-central part of Argentina's Corrientes Province, located about 148 km from the provincial capital. Its name comes from a plant common in the area known for its flowers and fruit, the mburucuyá (Passiflora caerulea), whose name comes from the Guaraní language.

The town is located in the middle of a biodiverse area, surrounded by wetlands characteristic of this part of the province. It has services such as supermarkets, restaurants, a petrol station and an ATM, as well as some accommodation options for those who want to spend a few days there.

You can visit Laguna Limpia, a recreational area with a body of water, a pier, a viewpoint and a water slide. Around it, there is a recreational area that is ideal for spending an afternoon having a picnic and is very popular with locals, especially on weekends. Next to this complex, there is also an amphitheater where different events and activities are occasionally organized.

For those who enjoy natural sites, visiting Mburucuyá National Park is a must. It is located about 10 km from the town, and it is approximately 21 km to the visitor center. It is a protected area with good options for exploring different trails, and it also has a large campground. It is highly recommended for those who enjoy observing wildlife, as it is possible to spot some species quite easily while exploring the area.

To get to Mburucuyá, there are buses arriving daily from different cities and towns, including Bella Vista, Buenos Aires, Corrientes, Esquina, Goya, Gualeguay, Saladas and Santa Lucía.
