Valle Hermoso

Information

It is a tourist locality of the Argentinean province of Córdoba, situated within the Punilla Valley. It is next to the locality of La Falda, and at a distance of about 16 km from Cosquín and 41 km from Villa Carlos Paz. It has services for visitors such as a tourist information office, petrol station, lodgings and places to eat.

Near the station you can visit the municipal museum Capitán Juan de Zevallos with samples of minerals and antiques of the area. Approximately 500 metres away runs the Grande de Punilla River, which in some sectors has picnic sites and river descents. The main attraction is the Balneario Dique La Isla, where there is a recreational area with wide green spaces next to a small dam built on a water course; it also has cement tables and benches, toilets and a grocery store.

To the east of the town is the Vaquerías Nature Reserve, ideal to be in contact with nature and to get to know the Sierras Chicas (a mountain chain, belonging to the Sierras Pampeanas). There you can go on hikes such as the trails Cascada de los Helechos (medium difficulty) and Cascada del Ángel (high difficulty), which lead to the corresponding waterfalls.

How to get to Valle Hermoso:
- By bus: there are buses to get there from other places in Punilla, such as Capilla del Monte, Cosquín, Huerta Grande, La Cumbre, La Falda, Los Cosos and Villa Carlos Paz. And also from other cities of the province and the rest of the country, such as Buenos Aires, Cruz del Eje, Córdoba, Cura Brochero, Mina Clavero, Rosario, Villa Dolores and Villa María. Take into account that depending on the bus, it can stop at its small bus terminal or else at a bus stop on Route 38.
- By car: it is on the National Route 38, which connects it directly with many of the tourist destinations in the Punilla Valley, such as Capilla del Monte, Cosquín, Huerta Grande, La Falda and Villa Carlos Paz, and serves to communicate it by means of other roads to the rest of the country.
- Tren de las Sierras: this railway connects Valle Hermoso with different localities that have a station in Punilla, from Capilla del Monte to Carlos Paz, and also reaches the capital city of Córdoba. It is normal to change trains in Cosquín.
