Information
The Balneario del Dique is the main riverside recreational area in the town of Sierra de la Ventana, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Located just a short walk from the town centre, it can be easily reached on foot or by bicycle.
It is a municipal site, open to the public, and situated on the Sauce Grande River which borders the town centre. A concrete path crosses the riverbed and forms a small dam that forms a natural pool with a picturesque waterfall.
It has a stepped seating area ideal for sitting down to rest, sunbathe or contemplate the landscape. Its proximity to the town allows easy access to shops for buying food or drinks, making it perfect for a spontaneous outing in the open air without major preparations. It is located in a mountainous area with vegetation, perfect for spending time drinking mate (a traditional South American herbal infusion) or an afternoon picnic with the family. It is a place frequented by locals and tourists, especially on weekends and holidays.
It is very close to the Cerro Ceferino or Cerro del Amor, so an excellent option is to combine a hike to the top of the hill (only suitable for people with good mobility, as it includes uphill stretches) with a refreshing rest in this place.
