Wildlife Watching in Pre-Delta National Park

Information

The Pre-Delta National Park is an ideal place to get to know typical species of the Paraná Delta.

In the La Jaula area of this park you can observe them:
- In the Laguna Curiyú (a body of water), which is in front of the park ranger's office, the coypu (Myocastor coypus) is frequent, together with birds of aquatic environments such as the yellow-chinned spinetail (Certhiaxis cinnamomeus), spotted rail (Pardirallus maculatus), pearly-vented tody-tyrant (Hemitriccus margaritaceiventer), unicolored blackbird (Agelasticus cyanopus), black-backed water-tyrant (Fluvicola albiventer), and other common species of herons, ducks, etc.
- On the Lagunas trail, it is common to see the great antshrike (Taraba major), a bird whose male is black and whose female is brown. On a section of this trail it is common to see the great horned owl (Bubo virginianus).
- The greater thornbird (Phacellodomus ruber) is a common sight at the campsite, along with other common birds.
- The three species of kingfisher of Argentina (ringed kingfisher, Amazon kingfisher and green kingfisher) are common throughout the area.
- During the summer nights (December to March), scissor-tailed nightjar (Hydropsalis torquata) can be seen on the sides of the access road to the park.
