Beaches near Camarones

Information

Near the locality of Camarones, in the province of Chubut, there is an area full of beaches and natural coves on the Atlantic coast. They are freely accessible, but it is worth mentioning that they do not have lifeguard services or any kind of shops.

The route leading to these beaches is a very interesting walk in itself, as you can see wild landscapes and wildlife is a common sight. My recommendation is to take a full day to enjoy the whole route, as there are several sites and attractions to see. They are usually uncrowded and even in the most remote ones it is common not to find anyone, which makes them an ideal place for those who wish to spend a peaceful moment in contact with nature.

To get there, from the locality of Camarones, take Provincial Route 1 to the south. After 6.5 kilometres, another secondary dirt road opens up on the left. This road is full of accesses to beaches and coves of different characteristics and colours, totally natural. Some of the places have a sign with their name, for example Puerto Piojo, Playa Honda, Caleta Pedro, Caleta Mejillón.

If you follow this secondary road for about 19 km, you will reach Cabo Dos Bahías, an unmissable protected area where there is a penguin colony, trails and a unique landscape. It is also a place where you can easily see several species of birds and mammals.
