To know the best time to go to San Pedro de Atacama, it is necessary to take into account the climate and the number of tourists that visit it:
- The climate in the whole area is desert-like with very little rainfall. These few rains occur in summer, especially in December and January. The rest of the year it hardly rains at all and the days are usually clear.
- There is a wide temperature range between day and night, especially in the winter months (June to August). So it is always necessary to bring a coat, as the temperature drops dramatically when the sun goes down. In summer during the day the weather is hot but comfortable.
