Information
These are two attractions located within the Atacama Salt Flat, which are very close to each other.
To get there from San Pedro de Atacama, you first drive 17 km along Route 23 in the direction of Toconao or the Sico Pass. From there you take a dirt and salt road for 11.5 km until just before the entrance to Laguna Cejar. There a new road opens up to the left, and after 11 km you reach Ojos del Salar (Eyes of the Salt Flat).
The Eyes of the Salt Flat are very deep holes full of water. If you continue for another 3 km you will reach the entrance to Tebenquiche. There you will be able to walk around this body of water, situated in the middle of a spectacular landscape with mountains on the horizon. You will also notice the strange formations of crystallised salts in the surrounding terrain.
