The city of Arica can be reached from different places by these means of transportation:

1. Bus: there is public transport coming from Antofagasta, Calama, Copiapó, Iquique, La Serena and Santiago. To move around the city and surroundings there are several bus lines and also collective cabs.

2. By car:
- Route 5 connects it with Iquique (310 km including a stretch along Route 16), Antofagasta (718 km), Santiago (2036 km) and other locations.
- A recommended option is to leave Arica and drive 10 km north on Route 5. From there, Route 11 opens to the right and leads to unmissable sites at high altitude such as Putre (131 km), Lauca National Park (between 150 km and 190 km), and the border with Bolivia through which you can visit the Sajama National Park on the Bolivian side.

3. By plane:
- Arica's Chacalluta international airport is served by direct flights from Santiago. There may also be direct flights (confirm) some days of the week from La Serena. Connecting in Santiago you can go from many other destinations.
- From the airport there are individual cabs or also shared buses (cheaper) to the city.
