San Miguel de Azapa Museum

It is a museum with exhibitions of pre-Hispanic culture, located in the Azapa Valley, more exactly in San Miguel de Azapa. It is 17 km from Arica.

To get there from the center of Arica, cabs leave in San Miguel de Azapa, a short walk from the museum.

It is a site with different rooms, which show original pieces such as ceramics and utensils. There is a room corresponding to the Chinchorro culture that inhabited the coastal area of the region.

But undoubtedly the most impressive thing about the museum, which makes it unique, is the amount of mummies that can be seen. Something really amazing, especially if you take into account that they are among the oldest in the world.
