Information

Its full name is the Jesuit Guaraní mission of the Santísima Trinidad del Paraná. It is the best preserved and the one with the largest number of structures of all the Jesuit reductions that can be visited today.

It is located in the heart of the town of Trinidad, only 30 km from the city of Encarnación. Buses connect Trinidad with Encarnación and Ciudad del Este.

To enter you have to pay a ticket, which is also valid for the missions of Jesús de Taravangüé and San Cosme y Damián. An interesting thing is that on some days of the week at 7 pm (the time may vary depending on the month) there is a guided tour at night with light shows.

It takes 1 or 2 hours to walk around it. It consists of a large square and structures such as the main church, the bell tower, several houses and a second smaller church. The Iglesia Mayor (Main Church) is the main building and has a lot to see such as sculptures and even a crypt where priests were embalmed. There is also an on-site museum.

This Jesuit reduction was founded in 1706 and functioned until 1768 when Spain ordered the expulsion of all the missions.
