Information
This town in the department of Itapúa is the main town on the so-called Jesuit Route in Paraguay. It has some lodgings and grocery shops.
It has several places to visit:
- Without a doubt, a great tourist attraction is the Jesuit Guaraní mission of the Santísima Trinidad del Paraná, which is located in the middle of the town. It is the best preserved Jesuit reduction with the largest number of structures that can be seen today.
- In the same locality you can visit its astronomical observatory. And also the so-called Ita Cajón Park, which is the place where the materials necessary for the construction of the Jesuit mission were extracted.
- The Jesuit Guaraní mission of Jesús de Tavarangüé, another reduction to visit, is 12 km away.
How to get to Trinidad:
- By bus: there are buses from Encarnación and Ciudad del Este that leave at the entrance to the town.
- By car: it is 30 km on paved Route 6 from Encarnación. And 245 km from Ciudad del Este combining Routes 7 and 6, which are also paved.
