Information
It is a valley located in the middle of the Andean Mountain Range area of the province of Mendoza. There is a laguna (like a lake) with a crystal clear body of water and a camping site nearby. Everything is surrounded by mountains in a completely natural environment.
It is an excellent place for the observation of mountain birds, which can be seen even in the surroundings of the laguna.
How to get there:
- First of all, it should be clarified that this is a destination that can be accessed only in summer (December to March), or months when the road is in good condition (it could also be November or April). In winter the last stretch is impassable due to the accumulation of ice and snow.
- IMPORTANT: Take into account that the road from Las Leñas to Valle Hermoso has a steep dirt road and can be very rocky. For this reason, it is recommended to drive only with high vehicles suitable for steep climbs.
- From Malargüe: First you drive 30 km north on National Route 40. From there you turn left onto provincial road 222, along which you drive 48 km to Las Leñas. Finally it is another 25 km of dirt road to Valle Hermoso.
- From San Rafael: it is 73 km along Route 144 and then 82 km along Route 40 to take Provincial Road 222.
