Trails of Tornquist Provincial Park

Information

Besides the classic ascents to the Cerro Bahía Blanca and Cerro Ventana (both mountains), in the Ernesto Tornquist Provincial Park there are several trails of different difficulty levels:
a) Trail Piletones Naturales: it is of medium difficulty for people in good physical condition. It takes about 3 hours round trip, it is self-guided, and to access it you have to go through the park ranger's office at the base of the Cerro Ventana of the park. It is a route through the mountains, with some moderately steep and rocky sections. You reach an area where there are some natural pools.
b) Trail Garganta Olvidada: it is also accessed through the base of the Cerro Ventana, it is a self-guided hike and takes 1 hour (round trip). It is a hike of medium difficulty for people in good physical condition. It goes along a stream that is usually dry, with uphill stretches with large stones. You reach a waterfall, which depending on the time of year or the type of season (wet or dry) may or may not have water.
c) Trail Mirador del Casuhati: it is of moderate difficulty and takes about 20 minutes one way. The access is on the side of route 76, 1 kilometre from the entrance to the park's Cerro Ventana base sector, just in front of a viewpoint that has a car park. It consists of a climb up a path that passes through a rocky terrain. You reach a lookout at the top that has an excellent view of the park and the Cerro Ventana (a mountain).
d) Trail Claro-Oscuro: the walk is accessed from the Cerro Bahía Blanca base sector. The entrance is free and it is self-guided. It is a short walk of about 20 or 30 minutes and minimum difficulty. You walk through forest and meadow areas, and at one point you pass by a small natural viewpoint.
