Potrero de los Funes

Information

It is a locality surrounded by mountain chains, only 15 kilometres away from the city of San Luis. It has a tourist information office, grocery shops, restaurants and lodgings.

It has a dam, around whose reservoir there is an international automobile circuit that bears its name (Potrero de los Funes). This is a semi-permanent racetrack, that is to say that when there is not an event it is a normal street where vehicles circulate. In parts of its route there are viewpoints of the lake and where kayaks and pedal boats can be rented.

There are tourist attractions in or near the town itself:
- Parque Nativo (Native Park): it is a green area of about 7 hectares on the shores of the reservoir, with tables, barbecues and picnic areas.
- Salto de la Moneda: a self-guided trail of medium difficulty for people in good physical condition. You walk along a path with rocky sections until you reach a 10 metre high waterfall with a natural pool.
- There is a public beach at the reservoir, and a waterfront with tables and benches at the Los Molles Stream.

To go from the city of San Luis to Potrero de los Funes, you can get there by car through a combination of paved roads or by bus that leaves from the provincial capital's bus terminal.
