Los Glaciares National Park

Information

It is a protected area covering some 726927 hectares, although this area corresponds partly to the national park zone and partly to the nature reserve zone.

Its relief is mountainous, with forests, lakes and glaciers. These characteristics make it suitable for many trekking activities and boat trips.

The protected area is wide, with several places to visit, where the most visited sectors are the following:
- Perito Moreno Glacier: there are footbridges to see the glacier, and you can also go on nautical excursions and walks on the ice with authorised guides.
- Lake Viedma area: there are several places to visit, but the most popular is undoubtedly El Chaltén, where there are trails of varying difficulty that leave from the town itself.
- Lake Roca area: there are trails and campsites on the shores of the lake.

There are many lodges and camping sites to stop near the national park. But without a doubt El Calafate is the most common option to stay and from there visit the southern part of the park, and El Chaltén for the northern part.

How many days are needed to visit the park? There is no single answer because it depends on whether you want to visit only the most popular attractions, or if you also want to do the many trails and activities in the park.
