Information

It is the most popular tourist attraction in the province of Santa Cruz, and is even internationally known. It is located inside the Los Glaciares National Park. It is about 5 km long and more than 50 metres high.

To get to know it, what you normally visit first are the footbridges that are right in front of the glacier. It takes about 2 or 3 hours to walk along them, and they have viewpoints that allow you to see the Perito Moreno from different heights and angles. It is quite a spectacle when the ice breaks off, and you can hear it falling like thunder.

Upon arrival, there are 2 sectors that have both parking, toilets and a place to buy drinks and food. From one of these sectors you access the footbridges from the north end. From the other, you enter the walkways through the middle, and when I went there was a stand where they sold tickets for the nautical excursion where you can see the glacier while sailing on the lake.

As an additional fact, there are agencies in El Calafate that offer other types of excursions to this place, such as walking on the glacier.
