1. To go by bus:
- From the bus terminal in El Calafate, there are several companies that go to and from the Perito Moreno glacier area. Some of them include for the same cost to pick you up at the door of the hotel. All of them leave at the national park, just where you can start walking along the walkways to see the glacier.
- Please note that when you enter the national park you have to pay for access to the park, which is not normally included in the bus ticket. The entrance fee to the protected area is different for Argentineans, foreigners and students.
- There are options to go early in the morning or at noon, and to stay for a full or half day. In general, with all these alternatives, there is enough time to visit the entire walkways.
- An important fact is that the bus ticket from El Calafate to the Perito Moreno glacier can be bought in advance online with a credit card, although it may have some additional cost.
- The time I went, when I arrived at the national park, there was a booth to hire nautical excursions right there for those who wanted to see the glacier while sailing on the lake. It should be noted that the bus can drop off passengers in 2 different sectors of the park's footbridges, and it was only in one of these sectors that the booth selling tickets for the boat trip was located.
2. To go by car: there are 76 km of paved road.
