To get to Puerto Montt, which is the main city of the region of Los Lagos in Chile, there are several means of transport:
1. Bus: there are from Ancud, Castro, Concepción, Coyhaique, Frutillar, Osorno, Santiago, Temuco, Valdivia, Valparaíso and many more places. Buses come and go all day long from Puerto Varas.
2. By car: the paved Route 5 connects the city with other destinations in the country such as Puerto Varas (19 km), Frutillar (45 km), Osorno (108 km), Temuco (350 km) and Santiago (1030 km).
3. By plane: El Tepual International Airport is 16 km away. Direct flights arrive there from Santiago and there may be (confirm) from Puerto Natales, Punta Arenas and from Balmaceda airport (near Coyhaique). Connecting flights are available from many other places.
4. Boat: there is a ferry service from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales once a week outward and once a week back. The trip takes three days and has cabins of different prices.
