Lago del Fuerte

Lago del Fuerte (literally "Fort Lake") is an artificial body of water formed by a small dam, located very close to the center of the city of Tandil, in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires. Surrounded by green spaces, it is an ideal spot for picnics, cycling, or outdoor physical activity. On its shores, there is a stand where kayaks are rented, allowing visitors to enjoy the lake from a different perspective.

The dam wall can be crossed on foot, offering a scenic walk with views of the lake and the natural surroundings. Nearby, there are other important attractions, such as the Parque del Bicentenario (Bicentennial Park) to the east and Parque Independencia (Independence Park) to the northwest. From the top of the latter, a trail descends toward the lake, and one of its sections features the Mirador del Lago, a panoramic viewpoint ideal for taking landscape photographs.

It is easily accessible from downtown Tandil by first taking General Rodríguez Street and then Alvear Avenue, which leads directly to the dam and the lake. It is an urban corner that combines nature, recreation, and privileged views, making it one of the city's most iconic promenades.
