El Centinela

Information

This is a tourist area of Tandil developed around a large rock located on the edge of an elevation. Near the entrance of the site there is a chairlift which can be used for a ride. There is also a short trail that goes through a small nature reserve, from where you can see the stone from below and during very hot summer afternoons (January to March) you can see some iguanas (large lizards).

It is a very crowded place for tourists. It has a car park for cars, restaurants, toilets, candy and handicraft shops.

To get there from the centre of Tandil, take Avellaneda Avenue towards the west, which becomes Estrada Avenue when crossing Dorrego Avenue. From there you continue for 3.2 kilometres until you come to a road on the left that after 1 kilometre leads to El Centinela.
