Laguna de Monte

Information

The Laguna de Monte is a body of water of more than 600 hectares located next to the town of San Miguel del Monte, in the province of Buenos Aires. It can be accessed from National Route 3 and, from there, about 450 meters are traveled along Almirante Brown Street. It is a destination often frequented by people from Greater Buenos Aires who come to spend the day or to fish, especially on weekends when it usually receives a large number of visitors during good weather seasons.

It is part of the so-called Encadenadas de Monte, which is a system of lakes and streams connected to each other that flow into one another. Its main tributary is the Totoral stream, while its outflow is the Laguna de las Perdices.

The body of water is almost completely surrounded by a paved road that allows visitors to tour it and discover its different attractions, as well as stop to spend the day or enjoy a picnic. Part of its northern shore, which is next to the urban area, has a pedestrian walkway ideal for walking a few meters from the water, with wide green spaces on one side and concrete benches distributed along the path. In one of its areas there are camping options where it is possible to stay overnight, which also usually include boat ramps and a small grocery store selling basic food and supplies.
