It is a town in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires, located 100 km from the national capital, the city of Buenos Aires.
Its main attraction is Laguna de Monte, a body of water that borders the southern edge of the town and has a lakeside path to walk along, campgrounds and boat ramps.
Its location, relatively close (or not too far) from large urban centers, means that many visitors come to spend the day around the lake, especially on weekends. The town has a variety of useful services, such as shops, restaurants, campsites, hotels, a gas/petrol station and an ATM.
How to get to San Miguel del Monte from the city of Buenos Aires:
— By train: from Plaza Constitución station, making two train changes at the Ezeiza and Cañuelas stations (confirm that this has not changed).
— By bus: there are services from the Retiro and Liniers bus terminals that go to the Monte bus terminal.
— By car: to get there from Buenos Aires, take the Tte. Gral. Riccheri Highway for 17 km. A little before Ezeiza Airport, it connects to the Ezeiza-Cañuelas Highway. It is 31 km to Cañuelas, where you take Route 3 for 48 km to Monte.
