Lake Gutiérrez

Information

It is a large lake located inside the Nahuel Huapi National Park. It is surrounded by native forest and hills. It is fed by several streams and flows into the Gutiérrez River, which is a tributary of the Nahuel Huapi Lake.

On the shores of Lake Gutierrez and its surroundings there are several places with beaches and activities to do:
- If you go to the lake along National Route 40 from Bariloche, there is a wide public beach when you get there. If you continue along the 40 that runs along its eastern shore, there are a couple of more descents to its shore.
- At its northern end is Villa Los Coihues, a populated area with campsite and some shops. It has a public beach on the lake.
- From Villa Los Coihues there is a dirt road of about 2 km that borders Lake Gutiérrez and reaches a section of the national park. A few metres away there is an organised campsite with a shore, a grocery store, toilets, tables and chairs. In front of the entrance to the campsite is the start of four trails of varying degrees of difficulty.

To get to the Gutierrez from Bariloche:
- By bus: bus line 50 runs from downtown Bariloche to Los Coihues.
- By car (option 1): from the centre of the city, take 20 de Febrero Street, which then becomes Gutiérrez Passage and Route 258. Then take National Route 40, which leads to the lake. This combination is about 10 kilometres in total.
- By car (option 2): from Exequiel Bustillo Avenue, take Francisco de Viedma Street, which is Provincial Route 82. This route reaches the lake by the side of Villa los Coihues.
