Information

It is a village in the Jujuy Puna, located 4 km from the town of Yavi and 1 km from the border between Argentina and Bolivia. It is on one side of the Cajas River, which has high gullies. The village is built with adobe walls and the main activity is agriculture.

It has a museum of the aboriginal community called 'Mama Antonia-Tata Portal' that shows archaeological objects of the area, such as pottery vessels and mortars of the Yavi culture. A chapel can also be visited.

For birdwatchers, it is a good place to see Puna species such as the creamy-breasted canastero (Asthenes dorbignyi), the black-hooded sierra-finch (Phrygilus atriceps), the citron-headed yellow-finch (Sicalis luteocephala), the d'Orbigny's chat-tyrant (Ochthoeca oenanthoides), etc.
