Information

It is a protected natural area located in front of the Ullum Reservoir, 17 km away from the city of San Juan.

It is an arid and saline soil formed by soft sediments, in the middle of a desert climate. Due to wind and rain erosion, hillocks have formed, giving a 'lunar' aspect to the landscape. It is of palaeontological importance because fossils from the Neogene period (Cenozoic era) have been found, corresponding to species that developed after the extinction of the dinosaurs.

To visit it, there is a pedestrian access on Provincial Route 60 in front of the Ullum Reservoir, about 500 metres from the dam's wall and hydroelectric power plant.
