It is the second most populated city in the province of Corrientes, located on the east bank of the Paraná River.
It has a tourist information office, ATM, petrol station, restaurants and lodgings. Its downtown area is located around the Mitre Square.
There are several places to visit in and around the city:
- Along the north shore of the city is the public beach El Ingá, which is wide and has a lookout platform. It continues to the park of the same name (El Ingá) which has a short trail.
- By the Italia Square is the waterfront. There is a floating boat there, which has a tourist information office and a room that is the Museo del Surubí (a museum) with some exhibitions related to fishing. From this floating boat, excursion boats depart to the island of Las Damas. The waterfront continues to the north with a path called Paseo del Poeta.
- You can visit the Museo Gauchesco Curuzú (a museum) and the Museo Sanmartiniano (another museum).
- In front of the city is the island of Las Damas, which is a natural reserve that can be visited with excursions organised by the tourist office.
- Taking Route 27 for about 6 or 7 km towards the north, you get to Puente Santa Lucía. There is an area with picnic and barbecue sites, next to the Santa Lucía River.
A remarkable phenomenon is that every year swallows come and go from San Juan Capistrano (United States) to Goya, making a migration of approximately 10,000 km. Thus, in the month of November they arrive to this city of Corrientes, and they can be seen at the Monumento de las Golondrinas (a monument) at the San Martín Square.
To get to Goya by public transport, buses go to the bus terminal every day from the cities of Buenos Aires, Formosa, Gualeguay, La Paz (province of Entre Ríos), La Plata, Paraná, Resistencia, Rosario, Santa Fe, and from the cities of Bella Vista, Corrientes, Esquina and Santa Lucía in the province of Corrientes. And some days of the week they come from the cities of Córdoba, Mercedes (province of Corrientes) and Posadas.
