Information

It is an island located in the Paraná River, just in front of the city of Goya, in the province of Corrientes. It is a natural reserve since its area is protected.

It can be visited with excursions organised by the tourist office of Goya. The boats leave from the floating boat located on the city's waterfront, by the Italia Square, and the trip on board takes about 10 minutes. In high season it is advisable to book a place in advance.

The tour is guided and takes you along the Laguna de las Mujeres trail while the history of the island is told. They also talk about the species of flora that you will see and discuss some of their properties, such as their medicinal uses and whether they have toxicities. During the tour we pass through gallery forests and other environments. You arrive at a body of water, which has a pier from where you can observe the laguna (like a lake) with vegetation. The walk takes around 2 hours in total, as it is about 1200 metres one way to the laguna and about 800 metres on the return walk.

With respect to the fauna that can be observed, it is common to see the black and gold howler monkey (Alouatta caraya) and a variety of birds and amphibians.
