Renca

Information

Renca is a village located in the northeastern part of the Argentine province of San Luis. It is about 8 km from Tilisarao and approximately 70 km from Villa de Merlo. It lies in a flat area, far from the province's major vacation centers, which makes it an excellent option for those looking to visit peaceful places.

The village offers some basic services such as shops where groceries can be purchased and lodging options.

On its southwestern side flows the Conlara River, along which a recreational area has been set up. There, a small barrier on the watercourse allows for the formation of a natural pool. The surroundings are filled with shaded green spaces ideal for spending the day outdoors. There are picnic areas, tables, benches and concrete barbecue grills that invite visitors to enjoy a quiet day in contact with nature.

One of the most striking features of Renca is its main square, named Granaderos Puntanos de Renca in tribute to three grenadiers from Renca who died in the Battle of San Lorenzo in 1813, a clash in which the independence forces defeated the royalist militias. The square is spacious with a colorful and well-kept design, and at one end stands the Cristo de Renca church which adds a spiritual touch to the place.

If you take the paved Provincial Route 40 heading west, after about 3.5 km the also-paved Provincial Road 25 branches off to the left. Following this road for about 7 or 8 km leads to the San Felipe reservoir. In some areas it is possible to access the shoreline, and you can also walk across the dam wall offering the chance to take panoramic photographs.
