Information

It is a town in the province of San Luis, about 28 kilometres from the locality of La Toma and 51 kilometres from Villa Mercedes. It is situated at the foot of the Cerro El Morro (a hill), which is of volcanic origin and reaches an altitude of 1732 metres above sea level.

It has several attractions to visit and has basic services for tourists, such as grocery shops and lodging.

The Arroyo del Morro (a stream) runs next to the town and there is a municipal recreational area with a swimming pool located over the water course. It has tables, benches and cement barbecues.

In front of the square is the church of San José del Morro, which was built during the 18th century and from which the town originated. Right next to it there is a museum with a liturgical room and a regional room. From outside the church, a Way of the Cross begins and by the 12th station there is an excellent view of El Morro, undoubtedly an ideal place to take a picture of the whole hill.

The town has a great historical value that can be perceived just by walking around its square. Nowadays there are the remains of a fort that was built as a defence against the raids of the ranqueles, who were a native people of that region.
