Esquel can be reached by several means of transport. First of all, it is worth mentioning that the La Trochita railway is only for tourist trips. It should also be noted that although there are several towns nearby, Esquel is quite far away from big cities, for example, it is 280 km away from Bariloche and 598 km from Trelew.
The means by which the city can be reached:
- By bus: it has a bus terminal where buses arrive from Bariloche, Comodoro Rivadavia, El Calafate, Puerto Madryn and Trelew. They also come and go from nearby towns such as Trevelin, Cholila, Epuyén, El Hoyo and Lago Puelo.
- By car: about 10 km away is National Route 40, which connects with cities and tourist destinations in other regions of the south and north of the country. For instance, it connects with El Calafate (Province of Santa Cruz), Bariloche (Province of Río Negro), Mendoza, Chilecito (Province of La Rioja) and many more.
- By plane: the Brigadier General Antonio Parodi International Airport is 18 kilometres away. Flights arrive from the city of Buenos Aires, but you must confirm on which days of the week.
