Laguna La Zeta Urban Nature Reserve

Information

It is a protected natural area located on the outskirts of Esquel, about 4 km from the city centre. It is in a high area.

To get there you take the Fontana Avenue heading northwest, and when you are leaving the city you take a dirt road on the left that goes mostly uphill. After about 2.2 km there is a fork to a sandy area (if you want to get to know it, I recommend you follow the fork for about 100 metres, park and then walk down to avoid burying your car in the sand). Continue along the same road and after about 1.1 km you will reach the nature reserve.

The access road divides when reaching the laguna (like a lake), and surrounds the body of water in its eastern and southern parts, with car parks in its main attractions. It also has a system of trails of varying difficulty to get to know the environment of the place. In one sector there is a beach and some services such as a grocery store, toilets and kayak rental. There is also a viewpoint called La Glorieta and on the other side a bird watching platform.

It is a good place for those interested in bird watching, since its body of water, trails and viewpoints allow you to walk around the reserve and record typical species of the area. You can see ducks, coots, gulls and others that usually surround aquatic environments.
